Finally made it out to try the new Phoenix area METRO Light Rail system today (Tuesday 12/30). It’s been open since Saturday with free rides through December 31st. We caught it at the first Mesa station at Sycamore and Main and made the round trip through the end of the line at Montebello and 19th Ave.
Still crowded with lots of people trying it out. Will be interesting to see how popular it is when the holidays are over and you have to pay a fare. The train moves at a decent speed, but frequent stops make it long ride – one way end to end about an hour and a half.
