On July 28th, the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service (ARMLS) will be switched over to a new MLS system called flexmls® Web from FBS Systems. This replaces an antiquated system (in today’s internet world) called Tempo.
I just logged into the preview system and am very impressed with the new capabilities I’ll have to assist my clients. I’m still exploring, and will soon attend training to get fully up to speed.
One of the features I’ve been anxious to get is the ability to search and view listings from my PDA. I’ve also tested this, and it’s a fantastic benefit. Now when I’m out with a client, I can easily answer questions on the spot about other homes for sale we may see.
The change-over is not entirely painless. My current clients may have to be patient as I switch their searches over to the new system. I’ll have to manually re-enter automated home searches into the new system. The old system will stay online through August before I have to fully convert.
Progress marches onward, and I think this is one step forward that will be good for all involved. From what I know so far, I think we will avoid the fiasco the San Diego Realtors had to endure on their “upgrade” to a newer version of the Tempo system.
